Abstract

The university study process requires constant effort, facing both academic and personal challenges. School dropout, influenced by multiple factors, is a significant problem in Mexico, where 6.8% of university students abandon their studies. The first year is especially critical due to the complex adaptation to the new environment, with high levels of stress and anxiety. Factors such as socioeconomic level, family environment and study habits influence academic performance. Low self-esteem and lack of motivation also increase the risk of failure. To reduce dropout, it is crucial to implement support strategies, such as personalized tutoring, psychological interventions and academic follow-up programs. Optimism, motivation, and institutional support are essential to improve adjustment and academic success, contributing to student retention and educational achievement.
