Fear is a basic, negative, and adaptive emotion that is activated in the face of a real or imagined threat and is necessary for people to adapt to new contexts. This study aimed to validate the short version of the Fear Intensity Scale in Mexican infants. A quantitative, quasi-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional study was conducted. A non-probabilistic sample of 615 Mexican infants (50.6% girls and 49.4% boys) aged 6 to 12 years (M=10.13; SD=1.22) was used. The following instruments were used: the Fear Intensity Scale in Children, the CERQ-k, and the Prosocial Behavior Scale, all validated in the Mexican population. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), reliability, and correlations between the scales were performed. Results: EFA yielded eight factors, KMO=.867, α=.896, ω=.895; In the AFC: CFI=.959; TLI=.949; SMRM=.042, RMSEA=.04; high correlations between the scale factors. A valid, reliable, and short instrument was obtained that measures fear in Mexican infants.
